My shower is leaky slow drip cold water. I am suspecting the cold water knob need a repair. But when I tried to take the knob off from the stem, I could not
find any place to open the lid up. Please see attached photos of the knob and help! Thanks in advance.

I tried to screw off the cap, but failed. First I am wondering where is the
opening of the cap? Is it the one with the golden screw line or just the
front silver cover? Anyway, I tried to un-screw, either won't work. There is
no anchor point to use any tool. Using hand to un-screw such round shaped
metal cap is slipery and impossible. By the way, can anyone identify which
make or manufacturer of my knob is? I hope to find out more information on
inside structure of this knob.

Use a rug and put a pair of channels locks on chrome piece you will need to be careful not to scratch. If you can get a smooth jaw wrench or strap wrench would be better

Chrome cap SCREWS off. Looks like Delta. I love that vintage of Delta.

Thanks SHR for hints. It is delta. Here I show how to remove the cap:

Wear a rubber glove to increase the friction force when trying screwing off
the cap.
