We had a septic inspection for buying a home and the inspection company recommended a charcoal vent on the pump tank and not the septic tank due to minor concrete erosion. Is this common and would you recommend this?

Shouldn't the pump tank be vented anyways or are they just recommending the filter for odor reasons?
Need opinions here...
Wouldn't hurt anything. But if it starts stinking in middle of a really hot summer, you will wish you had done it.
