Is ABS "for drain & venting only" because it leaches toxins or due to something else?

I've used a short bit (4') from my downspout to a storage tank for collecting rainwater. The water doesn't sit in it. Just runs through it. No pressure to speak of. However, now I'm questioning my use of ABS. I used it as I didn't want to have to paint PVC to keep the UV rays from breaking it down.

This water will be used for drinking, on occasion, at an off grid cabin. It will be run through a filter.

Opinions?

Abs is worse to use outside exposed than PVC. That stuff will bow and flex like crazy once the sun hits it on a hot day.
