Hammering Faucet

My kitchen faucet rattles and hammers when I turn it on. I can turn it down and it quiets but I have very little water pressure then. Water pressure is good and no hammering for about 5 seconds, but after that water pressure drops and the hammering begins. I checked the faucet strainer and that is good. This is the only facet in the house doing this. Water utility district said pressure going into the home is good. Can you offer suggestions on what is going on? Could it be the faucet?
