I removed an existing wall to open a room up & planned on installing an LVL laminated beam. The issue we found is that the 3" drainage pipe from the 2nd floor bathroom is running in this wall & needs to be re-routed somehow. The drainage pipe is approx. 4 1/2" feet from the outer wall so initially we thought we could re-route it. The 2 issues we're facing are:

1) Structural- we need to find out from our contractor if the LVL beam be moved back a bit because the 3" drainage pipe is located where we would install it?

2) If the LVL can be moved back a little, can we re-route the 3" drainage pipe without compromising the integrity of the existing 2x8 floor joists?

Attached are pictures of the open wall with the drainage pipe. Do you think this can be done in this load-bearing wall? Any suggestions?

depends on which direction you want to go. If you go toward the bath tub, run the horizontal just under the floor joist parallel to the new beam then down the wall. You can raise the santee and closet bend above the beam and run the horizontal parallel with the floor joist but will have to drop down under the joist to change direction. Don't think you want to drop it down in the middle of the door.
