About a year ago, my husband was taking a shower in our upstairs bathroom. I was in the room directly underneath the bathtub. Suddenly, I heard water dripping on the carpet and discovered water was running around the opening for canned lighting in the ceiling. We cleaned the mess up and took a look around where the opening for the light is. Saw nothing suspicious. This was the only day it happened. Six months later there was another isolated incident. Now, today it happened again. What could this possibly be?

hate to be a smart a--. your answer. a leak.

actually it could be 1 of a few things.

it could be.

hubby left shower curtain open, water leaked from floor
water leaking from drain
water leaking from drain to shower connection
water leaking from hole in membrane shower wall.

on and on.

first, go buy a shower test plug from a plumbing supply. tell them you want to test a shower pan.

put the plug in, fill shower with water. look and see

if no water leaks GOOD!!

let plug out. look and see again

if no water. you just eliminated drain and shower pan

pull face plate off the showere handles, look for evidence of water leakage from around the handles to shower wall

if you have a shower door, look

if you find nothing.

time to remove sheet rock. and look behind and under.

go below shower, cut a hole in ceiling, run the showere and with flash light look
