I am swapping out a batchtub, but the drain plug (see link to image of part below) has become stuck in the open position, probably due to hard water buildup. I plan move to a more simple drain plug in the tub itself but don't want to leave this think in the drain if I don't have to.

Looking for what the Pros use to dislodge this thing. Perhaps something like Lime Away, but don't want to damage the PVC trap. I have the tub off and can look down into the brass fitt and see the plug easily, can pull directly up on it with some force but it is really stuck.

Thanks!
Dave

If you're replacing the bathtub I highly recommend you replace the waste and overflow. The first one I replaced I probably lifted that new tub in and out about 10 times until I got my new drain aligned properly. I would hire a pro to set the drain for you. A misaligned drain can cause some ugly problems if not done properly.
