Hi, Water pressure gauge reads zero but pump seems to run alright. No obvious loss of pressure as pump does not kick on more than usual. Can pressure gauges go bad with no harm to the system? Will get it replaced but did not want to make an emergency drive to Home Depot in snow.

Sounds like a bad gauge to me, if everything is still working fine I'm sure you can wait til after the storm to get a replacement.

Keep in mind, the gauge has nothing to do with your water system. It's just for setting a pressure switch which was set up during the original installation.

So does the pressure switch rely on the gage or is it just there to tell you the tank pressure?
