Default Can I reverse a P trap?

Can I reverse a P trap? Instead of installing the way they are all normally installed, can I turn it around so it drops down farther?

This is a replacement bathroom sink with a deeper sink than before. There is no more room to move the drain tap piece up. That piece is as high as it can possibly go and I need it for the A/C condensation drain. I can't cut the drain coming out of the wall to turn it down because it's already cut close to the wall. I can't put the A/C drain after the P trap. So the below was the best solution I could come up with. Is it allowed?

If I can't do it with compression fittings, I guess the other option would be going to glued PVC after the slip joint near the wall.

I have tried something similar in the past. The problem I have run into is that the fitting on top of the left of the trap in your picture is very prone to leaks.
