I have two sinks in my kitchen. Yesterday I noticed water flowing out of this pipe that does not seem to be attached to anything. It happens when running water in the second sink located in a different location in the kitchen. It does not spill out water when running the dishwasher? Any idea what it is for and how to stop water from flowing out of it?

Thanks for your help! I put a clean out with a plug. This should stop the draining. I wonder what that pipe is for and why it is draining for the first time in 11 years?
 
You say you have a 2nd sink?
How far away?
Good bet that if you cap that and use the other sink, that other sink will back up.

You probably have a stoppage between where the 2 sink connect.
