I recently picked up an American brand powerflex high efficiency hot water heater(50 gal, natural gas). It was open box but never hooked up. It has a powered vent.

Originally I was just going to use it for residential hot water, but the manual says that it can be used with a hot air coil, or radiating baseboard.

I can't find much about it. Does anyone have any experience using these as combo units? I think it is about 75,000 but.

Would this heat a small space with radiating baseboard, maybe 450 sq ft? Is there an exchanger inside of it or does the tap water mix with the radiator water? Would standard copper baseboard work or do you need some special requirements to meet potable spec? Also are these mainly for supplemental heat?

Any info would be much appreciated, thanks.

I would consider even hooking up an "American" brand water heater to be a waste of time. Junk water heaters.
