Hello,

I have an older Whirlpool dishwasher that is continuing to slowly fill with water when it is off. We do not use the dishwasher at all since the baskets are rusted and it would cost more to replace the racks than purchase a new dishwasher.

One thing I need to add is that since our garbage disposal went out and we have not replaced it yet small bits of food as going down the drain on the other side of the sink where the disposal is not. Could that be the problem when the dishwasher is filling up with water when off?

Also, what can we do to stop the dishwasher from continuing to fill?

Thanks

It is clean water or dirty water entering the dishwasher? If clean, shut off the water valve going to it. If it is dirty water, make sure your discharge hose has a high loop in it to prevent backflow into the dishwasher.
