I'm renovating my kitchen and I'm having to move my sink/drain lines a foot to the left. I have two drain pipes that come out of the wall under the cabinet. The pipe on the bottom drained the sink. The pipe on the top was nothing but a p trap with a pvc piece at the top with a dishwasher drain inlet and then a vent looking thing above that. From here the two drain lines run along the wall and then drop down into the crawl space, somewhere in the wall there's a y where they connect.

My question is, what is the top pipe for and what should I do with it? I'm going to guess its being used to vent this side of the drain system since it's the highest point on this "branch". The new sink is a single basin and I'll have a garbage disposal so I'm planning on connecting the dishwasher to the disposal (hanging the drain line at the top of the cabinet).
