Just had a well drilled a couple weeks ago, its a 6" casing , I had an old drilled well at 80' that went dry was only getting 1 gpm recovery . new well is 141' . only problem is I looked at the bill and it says they drilled 141' after 8' they hit limestone until 141' they only put 23' of casing in and the rest is just a hole in rock, is this normal? I thought the casing is supposed to be quite a bit farther down then that,

Where are you located?

Sounds like they went a long way into the lime rock that probably wasn't necessary. As porous as most limerock is, going that far to get a usable amount of water is overkill. It also makes it easy to have more hardness, iron, sulphur and other undesirables. I'll bet the rig was a Rotary.
