Hello,

I'm working on a landscaping project and my contractor has brought in a plumber to run a gas line for an exterior fire pit. They've decided to use the "green pipe" from home depot, which is a coated metal pipe but I've read numerous reviews about this stuff corroding very quickly. Short of replacing the entire pipe with a PE hose, I had them wrap the pipe with tape to reduce my concern, but then it rained yesterday morning night and the whole trench was still filled with standing water that evening, with the pipe completely submerged.

I can't imagine this thing isn't already corroding. Are my concerns warranted? I want to make sure they're installing this correctly and using decent material before we pave over it. I need the line to last 40+ years.

Thank you

Is a tracer wire really necessary after installing metallic pipe?

no, they want it,
what happens when joe handyman fixes a leak using an illegal
plastic dresser coupling
then the gas co wants to locate?
never mind that joe handyman cut the wire because it was in his way
that would be using logic, that is not allowed
