Default Copper Pipe in my house 1/2" OD and 5/8" OD

I am trying to fix some pipes in my cabin that froze this winter.
I need to replace some compression fittings. I tried to put a 5/8 inch OD compression fitting on the line. It was a little bit loose but I could not tighten it down.

Is it possible I have 1/2 inch OD pipes?
Where would I locate 1/2 inch OD to 5/8 inch OD reducers?

If you are talking about copper you may need to try a plumbing/hvac supply house for reducers or compression fittings. It would be best to take a piece of the pipe to the supply house to save you some trips and returning materials that don't work. I recently met a customer who bought all 1/2" od compression fitting at his local hardware store. Problem was he needed 5/8" od. Small hardware stores can also be a great resource for finding fittings.

It is possible that they have run 3/8" copper for some reason (which would be 1/2" OD). My local Lowes has 3/8" sweat fittings and 1/2" compression fittings but I don;t know if yours will.
