G'day,

New to the forum and new to plumbing. I am trying to hook up an outdoor sink that has white drain pipes--not quite PVC--that will be connected to ABS that then has to be tied into another ABS pipe.

Do I need primer AND ABS cement for the white pipe to ABS? And how about primer for the ABS to ABS? Or can I just use ABS cement for both of these connections?

thanks so much.

Thanks John,

But do I need Primer or any cleaning solvent with ABS to ABS? And the white pipe from the outdoor sink is not PVC proper. not sure exactly what it is. any additional thoughts?

Oatey also make ABS to PVC transitional glue that I've used before. It is only good on the transitioned fitting however. It comes in a small can with light green wording. Most Big box stores should carry it.

Use a banded fitting. I would not suggest gluing PVC and ABS together even with that transitional glue.
