Hi,

I am trying to implement a mains backup solution for my water butt that complies with water regulations.

What I need is a valve which is opened when a weight pulls down on it, and closes when the weight is no longer applied.

Specifically, I want to attach weight to the valve via thin chain, and when the the chain is pulled by the weight the valve allows water to flow into the container, and once the weight is no longer pulling on the weight the flow of water is cut-off.

Is there such a valve? My Google searches suggest not but perhaps I am not using the right search criteria.

Any ideas?

That's kinda like how a toilet tank refill works, yes? Interesting...very interesting.
