For a while now, it has been difficult to adjust the temperature of our shower. It would go from hot to cold with just barely moving the handle. Now it's worse; we sometimes can't get hot water at all. We have a standard gas water heater and no problems elsewhere in the house. Is this something a plumber would be able to fix from the access panel behind the shower or do the fixtures also need to be replaced (pictured)? Thanks.

Have you managed to fix the problem yet? If you need help identifying what thermostatic cartridge you have send an email to Di Vapor and they will absolutely be able to identify it for you and help you out.

It sound like the problem is coming from the water heater. How old is your WH unit?

Yes, replacing the cartridge fixed the problem. Once I knew to look for the term "cartridge," researching how to do it on youtube was a snap. Thanks for everyone's help!
