Default shower head extension arm stuck

I have replaced the faucet hand in my shower but the shower head extension arm and the shower faucet are both stuck. It looks like they have been replaced before and that someone may have used plumbers putty to seal them. I have tried a couple of different things but can't seem to get either to budge. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to get these going?

Thanks~
Mike

Run hot water through the head for several minutes, it should loosen anything binding. try first by hand and if this fails use a strap wrench to loosen it, but be carfull to aply even and not jarring pressure to it should you need to use the strap wrench. when you put the new arm in its place use a few wraps of pink teflon tape to make sure the seal is good.

as far as the faucet goes, would need to see what the make is to tell you how to go about removing it. perhaps you are using the wrong terminology when you say faucet? or do you in fact mean the on off valve of the shower?

Thanks for the advice...will try to do that (I am assuming this is for the shower head extension arm. Not sure what to call the other part that is stuck....the bath tub spout? Looked for a screw underneath (not there) so I am assuming it is just screwed on a threaded pipe. Should I try the same advice for this? Run hot water to warm and loosen? Can I use a strap wrench for this as well?
Thanks~
Mike

if it IS the tub spout you speak of look for any holes or a void in the bottom where you might find an allen key bolt.. otherwise, yes screw it off.

actually had to cut of the end of the spout to get to the threads to be able to screw it off. It was too stuck to try to turn it from the outside. Thanks for the help!
