Default roman tub faucet install

Maybe I am missing something here but I don't think so.
Has anyone installed the Price Pfister 806 pdkk?
My deck is just over 1 1/4 inches thick, the brass pipe that the spout slides over is too long. If installed it would sit about one inch above the deck. I have the nuts on top and bottom of the deck to where the threads are as high as they can go. I can try to cut the pipe but take a chance on not getting it totally straight and it not seating against the rubber washer right.
Has anyone else installing this one ran into this problem?
Thanks
Mike

Here a link to instructions. maybe you can refer to problem in regars to this.

http://s7d1.scene7.com/is/content/Pfister/38134-0100

Not sure what you are dicribing

J goes on E then
E goes into deck hole with H
Nut F goes below deck and tighten
K goes on E

Should not be any thread on top.
Doesn't show but spout probably has an o-ring inside that seals on smooth surface of adapter.
post a picture if you can

I can get a pic tomorrow.
If you look at 4D that is how mine looks.
The problem is the threads don't go high enough to drop E down lower into the deck.
There is two o-rings in the spout and a rubber washer that E bottoms out on.
I am sure that it is sliding into the spout all the way in also.
Thanks for the info

The smooth end should not have to bottom out on a washer in the spout. The o-rings make the seal.
Did you put the washer in the spout?
Take it out and use it on the bottom end with the tee K.

Don't use Teflon tape to seal the threads on tee K to spout adapter. The threads are not tapered like a threaded pipe joint. The washer is the seal

Now here's the part I don't like about the design.

If this valve will not be accessible after installation, having hose connectors in a non-accessible place is a bad idea.
If you connect the valves to spout tee with copper and solder it then the washer gets hot and can become a problem with leakage.

Got it figured out.
PF said that you are supposed to cut K down to size once the pressure test is done.
K is for a thick deck and if needed for a thin deck it has to be cut down.
As far as the rubber washers go I received two with the package. One the size of the tee and one the size of the spout. I will only install the one in the tee.
I am making an access door for the front of the tub, it is a jacuzzi.
Thanks for the help.

You mean E not K
But that does not make sence.
J screwed onto E The length of the smooth barrel does not change.. If J is on the finished surface.
Doesn't matter how thick the deck is.

If you cut it make sure you leave enough for the o-ring to seal
