Hi, I bought a used faucet for a claw foot tub and am having trouble figuring out the diverter. Please note that I haven't plumbed the faucet yet, but it seems the diverter handle is wonky and has little movement. After unscrewing the valve stem, I am unable to understand what's supposed to be happening here. I assume that the valve moves up and down with the lever action of the pin attached to the valve stem. If so, I can't help but wonder if something is wrong, as the valve has very little movement up and down (maybe 1/8"), and the handle itself only moves a couple of inches and is not very positive. Our other, more modern faucet, uses ceramic cartridge valves, and has a much larger and more positive throw.
I'm also trying to figure out how you remove the diverter valve? It looks like the only way out is through the bottom, but how do you get the spigot off? Does it screw on?
Thanks for helping me understand this better.
