Default toilet questions

The toilet was replaced in the early 90's i think. It takes a few mins to refill after flush and will run sometimes. A few yrs ago i replaced the inside and got rid of the arm. What else can i do to fix this? How often does the seal need to be replaced and how to tell if it does beside leaking? thanks

I'd recommend to replace your guts with a Fluidmaster 400c, which comes with a replacement flapper. These flappers get weak after a few years and also collect crud under the flap rim, which will slowly cause your water to leak down.

The problem is most likely your flapper.
