Many times if the nut that holds the flush valve to the tank is not tightened enough they will leak. What happens it leaks around the gasket for the flush valve (not the tank to bowl gasket) and follows the threads down into the bowl with out showing any signs of external leaks. All it takes is to snug up the flush valve nut.
