Strange Backup in Toilet?

Hi, could someone take a look at these pictures and tell me what this looks like? I was staying in a hotel alone, was gone nearly the entire day, and came home in the evening to this (see three pics attached).

i don't think anything backed up... if you look at the drips on the rim and inside of the bowl, somthing was poured in there or theres a leak from above...

Good Eye. Now that you have pointed out the obvious.
I'm curious as to what the ceiling looks like but he's probably already checked out and moved on.

Maybe the toilet in the room above overflowed and leaked through the cieling.

I've seen partial clogs that have bubbled up and burped all around the bowl like these pics.
