Does a garbage disposal need it's own breaker?

I'm remodeling a house for one of my sons and it doesn't have a garbage disposal. We're updating kitchen countertops so the sink will be removed anyway so it will be easier to add one.

Do I need to wire it to it's own breaker or can I tap into another hot wire?

I believe code requires a separate feed on a dedicated 15A breaker. Same with the DW.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

From what I understand, all kitchen appliances need to be isolated on their own circuits these days.

All but the refrigerator (but it is recommended that it be on a separate circuit).

The MW has to be on a dedicated 20A circuit and there must be two separate dedicated 20A GFI circuits to supply counter top receptacles.

Again, there are here more knowledgeable people than myself but this is what I had to do on my kitchen remodel.

pardon my ignorance, but does "dedicated" mean separate breakers as well, or just must be GFI?

Separate breakers and either the beginning receptacles be GFI or GFI breakers @ the box. There must be a minimum of two circuits supplying counter top (and all other outlets in kitchen area) outlets depending on kitchen size and number of wanted/needed outlets.

You don't want your appliances on GFI as they may trip. Check local code here as I am not a professional.
