Default SharkBite

Has everyone seen the new SharkBite products available? Was at trade show this weekend and they have the easiest make your own riser kit system avaialble on the market. Also nice to see they have the new garden hose washing machine connection with SharkBite connection. Also for all on here lesson learned,,,look for the raised Shark on the brass...many Chinese knock offs out there...

The only really new thing I have seen from SB in a while are the thermostatic valves and pressure regulators. A good product for certain uses, but use them as you would compression fittings: never bury them in a wall.

I'm interested in using the Sharkbite fittings for putting a frost-free spigot on a PEX waterline. Does anyone have any info about the reliability of this product? I'd like a good long-term solution, but some of these fast/easy solutions seem like they might not be great in the long-term.

Any info/reviews/personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I havent used for that application, but they can be used with copper, CPVC, and pex. I have used the Sharkbite angle stops with pex for lav and toilet risers. They also have the new dishwasher connection with Sharkbite for Whirlpool GE. They had a peg board display of their new products at my supply house show. I know they have been used in Australia for years and behind the wall new construction. They also have a Sharkbite integrated ball valve flex hose for cold water isolation for water heater. I carry a case of the fiitings and use them all the time. The other new thing I like is the slip tee with FNPT that I use to screw onto expansion tanks then make make connection. I havent been on their web page but I am sure they have the new products there. I havent seen the mixing valves or regulators.

Thanks, DBCooper - - that's pretty consistent with what I've heard about the Sharkbite product. I'm glad to hear that you're using these regularly. I'll be using one on my small spigot-replacement job and will be watching it for leaks over the coming years. I really appreciate the reply!

Also Lion King make sure you beburr if using copper in particular. You dont want to cut or damage the O-Ring. Also keep the stiffener in for pex. As mentioned above the only issues I had was when my supply house put another manufacturer in the SharkBite bin and I didnt know and installed it. I now look for the raised shark on the brass to identify for sure.
