Default Water Valves

Section 606.1 states that shut-off valves be located on the top of every downfeed in occupancies other than one and two story family resdential occupancies.

Typically you have shutoff valve for a bathroom group and supply stops at each fixture.

Does this mean a valve is required above the ceiling every time the pipe drops down to a fixture?

I guess it's time I invest in a new code book. Mine's a little old.
Section 606 was deleted and it refers to Indirect & Special Wastes
