Default shower pan and electrical box

hello, new to the forum,

I am building a bathroom on the second floor. The shower pan ( sealed unit) location is right above an electrical box ( ceiling fixture from the room below).

Is that a problem ? Yes the work will be inspected

thank you much for any input

Typically there is no problem. As far as code jurisdiction, it would be more of an issue for the electrical/building inspector to address and not related to plumbing. Like I said, though, it typically is not a problem.

thanks Cad,

I m realizing that my question may not make a lot of sense.
if it was a problem, we would not have bathrooms "upstairs" as the fact that the electrical box is under the pan or not, water would find it anyway at some point...

Did i just answer my own question?

The only issue that I am aware of with electrical and plumbing is with piping running above an electrical panel, anotherwords, a breaker box. So no, I don't think that it will be a problem with having a light fixture underneath a shower.

Your question made plenty of sense. In new construction, many homeowners have asked if it was okay to have the lights, fans, etc. under the 2nd floor bathrooms. So it is not an uncommon question.
