Default Block of wood?

We installed the plumbing under the kitchen sink in 2004 when we built the house.
The p trap keeps coming loose.
Redid the whole drain on the sink last month, leaking this week.
Called a licensed plumber who said it was installed correctly.
His solution was putting a block of wood between the p trap and screwing the wood into the cabinet.
If we were to sell the house would this fix pass an inspection?

The p-trap is installed backwards.

This is what it should look like

The drain arm is installed too high for the drainage arrangement under the kitchen sink. It looks as though you won't be able to turn it around.

Can you take another picture showing all of the drainage piping under the sink? Maybe we can come up with a way to plumb it correctly.

The trap, tee and branch sit too low and will always hold water. as a matter of fact, I don't see a compression nut on the other side of the p-trap. That would also explain why it comes loose.

yea, the tail piece (pipe coming from the top) needs to be cut down 2-3 inches, take the rest of the plumbing apart and reinstall.. it would take a plumber 15mins to fix this, unless you have a disposal coming off the right, then you got a bigger problem. you see in pic #2 how the disposal pipe drops into the tee, and NOT from the side... Pic 2 is correct.... another thing, the plumber you called was a CLOWN,

i would call a reputable plumbing company in your area. codes differ from state to state and town to town. the picture mr david posted may fly in Ca but here in chicago its a big no-no. in any case dont call the (block of wood guy) anymore.

in Illinois we have to trap each bowl separately. continuous waste is not allowed. if there is a dishwasher you must provide a separate trap for that too.
