What brand for a cordless combo kit?
Milwaukee, makita, ridgid, dewalt, others, I had an 18v ridgid and have used an 18v milwaukee that was a friends before i don't like dewalts battery style of attachment thoigh they make nice hard cases I liked rigid's dual charger though they might have phased that out.
I am just asking for opinions and experience of dependability and customer service
wouldn't be cool if companies offered corded combo kits

I have been a supporter of De Walt for several years. They now have a "Ni-Cad" battery which is about 1/2 the weight of their other 18v batteries. It is a very light and good set up, but is very expensive.
With this being said, I spoke to a contractor recently who will only by the Rigid brand, because they offer a full free replacement in the event of damage. I don't know if this is accurate, but after just spending $110 to replace the gears in my hammer driver drill motor, it would be worth looking at.

I have a Milwaukee 28V Kit. I have had it for 4 years. It gets heavy use and abuse. I have had to replace one of the batteries and my chuck on the 1/2 hammer drill has been replaced.
I would buy another.

I have an 18 volt Milwaukee Lithium Ion kit. Before that, I had a Ni-Cad 18 volt Milwaukee kit. Before that, I had several Dewalt 18 volt kits. The amount of absolutely criminal stuff I have put the two Milwaukee kits through killed the Dewalt kits in short order. And I agree, I don't like the battery attachment system for the Dewalts. I had rubber band contraptions holding the battery in postion to make contact on the last Dewalt I had.
After two years, I need to buy some new batteries for my Milwaukee Li-Ion kit. Nothing I have seen or used has come close to this kind of longevity. I don't plan on buying any other brand when this one goes out.

I have two sets. One is dewalt, the other is black and decker. Both are 18volt,both seem to last about the same amount of time doing the same job.
I do think the dewalt has a bit more power.
I have had both sets for about 6 years, with no problems out of either one, except buying one batt, for each.
The dewalt is a bit more costly, but I don't think its worth the money it cost, compared to the blk/decker firestorm.
That is the two I have, and I am quite happy with both.

I use a Porter Cable set that I have and like it very much but I probably don't beat on it as hard as you guys but I do abuse it pretty good and so far I am very happy with Porter cable. I would like a Milwaukee set some day.

I have used Dewalt, ryobi, milwalkee, ridgid.I am currently loving the ridgid combo kit I had an issue with the charger, the gears on my drill went out & the chuck on my recipricating saw broke,Itook them to the certified Ridgid repair place NO CHARGE!!!I had to wait a couple of days & the guy even gave me an extra battery!
If you do purchase the ridgid combo kit make sure to register your kit online directly with ridgid .I don't know if the kit still has owners lifetime warranty mine does!!Even still a three year warranty is not too bad when you consider the puishment you can doll out on a cordless kit.On average they seem to last about 2 years at least that's been my experiance.

Makita is the current hot ticket.
I have always used dewalt and do currently. If I were to buy new, it would be Makita
