Default Live Cultures

Anyone actually know if the various live bacteria, enzymes type products are beneficial to stripping the pipes of material?

Enzyme cleaners cling to, and eat, organic clogs. In my area, Draincare is a popular product. People seem to use it more than any other product. I have never heard Riddex claim it will clean the pipes, only help the septic tank.

We sell a product called Bio-clean. It is suppose to help with buildup. I recommend it as a maintenance solution. It will not open a clogged drain but it will help with slow drains if applied correctly. It isnt a quick solution but is helpful as I said with maintenace issues. Hope this helps.

What happened to the old Draino Crystals that heated up in the drain when you added a little water. That stuff worked great!!

As is human nature, people figured if one capful is good, two capfuls are better. later they found that the liquid to granule mixture was too dry, and the granules turned into a 'concrete" consistancy in the trap. The stuff was so caustic, it killed all the bacteria in the septic or ate holes in the pipe.

Dune, I would say this is probably the biggest reason: http://www.zepcommercial.com/msds/ZUCRY2.pdf

It looks like Zep still makes it, but I would hate to see the numbers on how many people (John Q. Public... Dee D Deeeeee!) have gotten caustic burns from that stuff over the years.
