Default leaking cleanout plug-help!

I unscrewed the cleanout plug from bottom of the ptrap under my bathroom sink to clear a clog and now when I screw it back in, it leaks. I never had this problem before. Does anyone have any suggestion to stop the leak. It's an old piping system, old metal.

Try wraping some teflon tape on the threads and screw it back in again.

The older trap clean-outs had a rubber "O" ring. This may have dropped off, or disintegrated when you removed the plug. Try teflon tape or joint compound (pipe dope) on the threads. As a last resort, draw a piece of heavy string through a candle to coat with wax. Wrap the threads of the plug once or twice with the string and install the plug.
