Default Water softener

I have hard water and a slight sulfur odor in the water. Will a water softener solve both problems? Or do I also need an odor filter?

Thanks,
Rocky

No, a softener will not remove the sulphur odor. The odor is a gas and has to be let out of the water before getting to your faucets.

We do this with an air pump and a galvanized tank under pressure. Some people use aerators. I don't like them because they are unsanitary. A lot of treatment guys use chlorinators to kill the odor. I personally don't like injecting chlorine into my plumbing. It's hard on everything it comes into contact with.

There are a few majic filters on the Internet also. You might want to take them with a grain of salt.

No a Softner will not cure both problems, You have 2 different issues your dealing with. Your best answer is to get a treatment specialist to check your water and recommend the proper answer. I suspect your on a well system. Like Speedbump said Don't expect Majic cures on internet or Big Box stores to give you proper answers / results. We are in Frederick if you want to call.

Make sure your sulfur smell is actually coming from the well.

We have installed these non-chemical "magic filters" for over 30 years for low level sulfur and they work to perfection. You can buy them online from AffordableWater.us

Sorry Danno. A statement without proof is nothing in my book. Can you provide any laboratory testing proof?
