Great Job! Now, get rid of those gate valves and replace them with ball valves!

(Just kidding, but I personally refuse to use gate valves for anything. They seize up way too fast, and you never know for sure if the valve is fully opened, or the gate valve is beginning to seize up!)

Your going to hate me for this, but good softeners come with built in by passes. You don't have to go through all that valve sweating. We used those three valve bypasses back in the dark ages.

Good job!..just for future...if your having trouble with a drip..its a old method..but you can use bread...not the crust..you make a ball with the bread and use something to push it up the pipe..the bread will stop the water long enough so you can solder...also the bread will just turn to mush...and will pass through a valve no problem...
