Default New p-trap leaking like a sieve....

Good afternoon folks. I am trying to install a new p-trap and am having trouble getting it water tight. I cut the old rusty end off of the chrome 1-1/4" pipe coming out of the wall. I then measured and cut the new trap and installed a 1-1/4" coupling that leaked horribly at the back nut that was over the old pipe. I then tried a rubber coupling with clamps and the same thing, it leaks as though nothing is there at the back side of the coupling....

Am I doing something wrong?

A few pics for you to see what I am talking about....

Thanks in advance for your time....

I believe your problem is due to the bent pipe coming out of the wall. Cut it at a point where it is perfectly round, and either re-apply your rubber sleeve or transfer to plastic with hand tightened compression nuts.

If you can cut it back to a round piece it would be ideal, add a LIGHT lick of silicone inside the rubber before you put the rubber on
