Default Frozen Pipes

My pipes in my kitchen are frozen. Just the cold water. You can not get water from the fridge and the sink will not turn on. I am not home to deal with it so I had to turn the water off since I can to work. The faucet is turned on but the water at the main is shut off. It is about 45 degrees outside now. I am wondering how long it will take to thaw out and the possibility of the pipe being busted. I have only lived in the house for a couple of months as we just purchased it. The house was built in 1990 and I believe the pipes are copper. I am afraid to turn the water back on. My husband is an over the road truck driver and will not be home for a couple of days. What should I do????[/SIZE]

If its copper, good chance its split. Theres not much expansion to copper, but i have saw it freeze and not split.

Once its thawed you will have a little mess if the water is not on. If the water is on, big mess. But like they say, you gotta break eggs to make breakfast. You gotta turn it back on eventually. Unless you can see the pipes clearly, just using it will be the only way to get your answer.
