Default Floor drain to shower drain conversion

Hi all and thanks for the help in advance.

I have an existing shower in my basement with a concrete base and it uses a floor drain.

We are looking at redoing the bathroom and tiling the shower. I have used the shower quite a bit as is, and it functions with no issues. It's just ugly.

A few question to start with:

1) Is there a conversion or kit that would allow me to convert the floor drain to a regular shower drain without having to tear up the concrete?

2) If I have to tear up the concrete how involved is it to convert to a shower drain

3) Is there anything saying I can't keep the floor drain as is since it is an existing bathroom.

If I am understanding this correctly, I can think of no reason that you cannot use the current drain. The only problem that comes to mind is that the drain grate will end up below the surface of the tile. Perhaps you can get an extension kit or otherwise put spacers under the grate to get it to finish at the proper level.
