Default Workers Comp & General Liability Ins.

Just kind of wondering how much do you guys pay for this type of insurance per year. Seems very expensive for those who have their own plumbing business. Also what job classification do you use for the helpers/installers and the plumbers?

Sometimes I feel like I work for the insurance company and the government since they take a big chunk of what otherwise could be profit.

Thank you all

I'll start

Workers comp. 30k per year
General Liability 16k

I do the pay as you go work comp and it saves me quite a bit, I only pay for the hours my guys work so it varies a lot. General liability is about ten for me.

I was talking to a buddy of mine the other day who does HVAC. We're both really small companies (just starting up) and we do everything ourselves (no employees). I was shocked at how much more my plumbing liability insurance was than his, since our coverage was about equal. Turns out, after making many phone calls, plumbing insurance is just flat out more expensive than either HVAC or electrical. Go figure...
