I don't make rash decision or fire on the spot. If I fire someone it's after a long hard talk about what I expect and why they aren't meeting the business demands.

I think I'm a good boss.

But you haven't asked your "employees" yet!

Thanks for everyone for their condolonces, it has helped. I've called several times since last Thursday asking to speak to the owner and I either get "He just stepped out of the office" or "He's busy, would you like his VM?" and I have left three. Tomorrow I will be going in to turn in my uniforms and collect my check, as my supervisor told me to do. I will also ask to speak to him, maybe he would rather just talk to me FTF, I dunno. I just want to understand his logic in firing me when I had only been with him for twelve days and I had not been disiplined, ever, in the short time I was there. Heck, all the years I was in the electrical trade I made a few mistakes that could have gotten me fired but the people I worked for were understanding and all I ever got was "I'm sure you will be more careful next time" and left it at that. But I start with a new company in a new trade and I end up getting fired for someone else's mistake. I'm still hot over the whole thing but I've come to the conclusion that if the owner is like that, I don't want to be associated with him anyway. I really do believe as someone said, the Tech stabbed me in the back to save his own butt. I strive to be a good and honest employee and do things in other people's homes as I would do in my own and if an employer doesn't like that/can't see that then I'd be better off working for someone who does.

If you do get to speak with your old employer try to keep it civil. Keep in mind that someday he may rehire you. I was always told not to burn my bridges behind me.

And I won't. I wouldn't get a straight answer any how.

This. Be respectful, don't raise your voice, make eye contact. If he won't make it he's not on the level and knows what's really going on.

If that's the case you don't want to work for him anyways.

I did get to speak to him this morning, pulled behind him when he was putting some tools in his personal truck. He said Hi to me and I did the same back. I asked if he had a minute and he said he might if I make it quick. I explained that I had left him 3 VM's and I was just curious why he did fire me. He said that they had to let the Tech go I worked under the previous week (Not the one who flooded the house) and since I was hired to work under this Tech, he had to let me go. I asked him if he would hire me back if anything ever came open again and he said he would think about it, then got in his truck and drove off. So I don't know if that's the exact truth or a well thought up story. One of the office ladies said he did fire the Tech he mentioned, so I guess it could be true. On the brighter side of things, I had two interviews today. One was for a plumbing and mechanical contractor and one at a commercial electrical contractor who hired me right on the spot and I will start Monday. Was really hoping to leave electrical behind but hey, it's a job and in today's economy I'm very lucky to have one. I'm still keeping my head up something will pop up where I can get back into Plumbing though

I don't know if it's the truth, but I'm glad you got answers.
