Default Drain Valve

Can I replace the drain valve on my gas water heater or do I have to replace the whole thing. If I can, how do I get it out? I've tried and obviously am too stupid to accomplish this feat.

Thanks

The standard port for a water heater is 3/4 Female.

Try a bigger wrench! Lefty loosey, rightey tightey! jk

You replace it with a 3/4 Male boiler drain. Sometimes a short nipple and coupling are required. I recommend all brass.
