Default Adding a hot water line off of HW heater

So I'm a homebrewer and brew in my garage, where my water heater is located. I'd like to have easier access to hot and cold running water, instead of running back and forth with gallon jugs to my kitchen sink.

I 'd like to plumb in the simplest possible hot and cold water lines by using the lines coming into my house(hot) and into my tank(cold) for this. Is this something that is doable/advisable?

Second question is, is there a simple way to do this? I currently have 3/4" female iron pipes (copper colored and look flexible, but not sure) running from the top of my water heater into the pipes in my wall.

Can I just put a T valve in these, or add one on, to give me access to water?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Not sure what type connectors you have to the heater. If it's the flexible copper that we see around here I wouldn't advise removing them if your not prepared to replace them. When replace heaters we consider them as through aways. Your best bet is to install the tee's on any exposed ridged piping other then the connectors.

Welcome fellow homebrewer!

If you can, post a picture of your water heater connections, and we should be able to help you get something worked out.
