Septic Issues

My system has two tanks 1000gal. The problem I am having is in the first tank from the house. The paper builds up at the end of the pipe. Every so often I need to open the top and move the paper or water will back up into the house. My system is 13 years old. I have it pumped every other year. There is only my wife and I living here. Every time I have it pumped out I ask the person what may be the problem. I never get an answer.

Is yours the type that the pipe comes through the side wall and is just cut off an inch or two in the tank? The only thing I can think of is that when they cut the pipe off they left some burrs on it and the paper could be getting caught up on that.

You should try a new plumber. If there not giving you answers it's either because they did something wrong or they don't know. Either way you should move on.

Are there (T)s on the inlet pipe of the tank, where it enters the tank?
There should be a T on the inlet and outlet of the tank with a piece of pipe going down in the tank about two thirds of the way down into the water.

The also should be a drop of about 2 to 3 inches between the two. The outlet should be lower on the tank than the inlet.

If that is not the case, that will cause the paper to stay at the same level going in as going out. That is just like a river flowing over flat ground verses going down hill.
The drop in the tank helps pull the water and solids in and down into the tank.
If the Ts are at the same level in the tank, there not much flow or pull to help wash the solids down.

Could be that the drain pipe was not pitched enough or there are burrs on the pipe. When I worked in Florida, we were required to install a 45 degree offset with at least 2' of piping between the fittings, just before the pipe entered the tank.

Next time ask for a professional to come out to clean out tank with expertise.
Either there is a blockage in the pipe system requiring attention or the inlet pipe to the tank is not installed correctly. It may also have no vent in the system that is causing problems.
